This bag will help you with your journey around the gallery.

To start, sit down and read the instructions that are inside the bag. These will tell you what to do next.

Story ‘Snap shots’

These cards give a glimpse of what it may have been like for local people, who lived in Carlisle in the past.

Here is how to use them:

Look through the cards and choose a person that you like.
To find the correct display case look out for the coloured panel that matches the person’s card.

Use the card to explore the display case that they belong to.

Try on at your leisure

Feel and look like a person from the past.

Who are you? What is your name? What do you do?

Be part of history!

Toys

A mixture of toys showing the use of different materials used for making toys. These will be secured to a table, but the children will be able to feel them. Will be a blast from the past for some of the adults.

Feely boxes

There are four feely holes in the gallery, which have objects in them. The aim is to guess what they are by touch alone.
